Our Broodmares

  We are very proud of our broodmare herd. We have carefully selected the mares that we would like to maintain our bloodlines. They are the type of horses that we want to ride. Our mares are started under saddle before being placed in the broodmare band. If the mare shows tendencies for any undesirable trait, she is removed. Many of our broodmares' bloodlines have been on the ranch for generations. We maintain a herd of fewer than 20 broodmares so that we can devote the time and energy that is required for having a successful group of horses. Our mares are friendly and generally easy to work with. Their feet are trimmed and they are handled regularly. We believe in a "hands on" approach with our mares. This shows in their foals, who are gentle and easy to work with, even before they are halter broke!
